Braidy Bunch Scarf Pattern
Makes a cabled scarf that looks like a long, loose braid.
Pattern may be printed, copied, and linked to various websites on the condition that credit is given and (if on a website), a link to this blog is listed on the same page. Gauge is not important for this scarf, and you should be able to use whatever weight yarn you want. Just make sure you're using the right needles for your yarn so it's not too tight.
Abbreviation Guide:
CO - Cast on
CN - Cable needle
LHN - Left hand needle
k - knit
p - purl
sl - slip
st - stitches
CO 18 st.
Row 1 (wrong side): p all
Row 2 (right side): k all
Row 3 - 7: Repeat rows 1 and 2, end on p row.
Beginning of cable, p all uneven numbered rows
Row 8: sl 6 st onto CN, hold in front of work. k2 from LHN, k6 from CN, k10.
Row 10: k2, sl 6 st onto CN, hold in front of work. k2 from LHN, k6 from CN, k8.
Row 12: k4, sl 6 st onto CN, hold in front of work. k2 from LHN, k6 from CN, k6.
Row 14: k10, sl 2 st onto CN, hold behind work. k6 from LHN, k2 from CN.
Row 16: k8, sl 2 st onto CN, hold behind work. k6 from LHN, k2 from CH, k2 from LHN.
Row 18: k6, sl 2 st onto CN, hold behind work. k6 from LHN, k2 from CH, K 4 from LHN
Repeat rows 8 to 19 as many times as required to get the length of scarf you want. End on a p row, then bind off all stitches and weave in ends. Then post links to your completed scarves in the comments so I can feel all shiny and special that other people have used my pattern!
